 Introduction 

Whenever someone says war   , first thing comes to our mind is , World world war 1 and  world war 2 , and if we talk about ancient wars , we remember one of the biggest  war kurukshetra , but how many of you know that , even before mahabharata  battles were fought 

You heard right , as per text mentioned in 7th mandal  83 shlokas of rigveda  , ten powerful kings united against one king and wage war,  but that one king defeated all 10 kings  destroying kingdoms and proved that intelligence is more important than power 

But question pops in everyone’s mind is 
Why 10 kings wanted to defeat 1 king  ? 

Between whom and where this battle was fought ?

• Lets start from king bharata who is the son of dushyanta and mother shakuntala, Bharata is one of the greatest king who ruled from kashmir to kanyakumari and not to forget india  also called as bharat , which is named after king bharata 

• After bharata many kings ruled and it was in 14th generation of bharata kingdom  where  powerful king divodas  ruled  and later sudas was crowned as king of bharata  who is grandson of  divodas 

• As per vedas , sudas was mentioned  as aryan , even today , no one exactly know   from where and how  aryans came to india   , but  many historians believe that aryans came from central asia and established their  kingdom in india 

• One of those kingdoms is tritsu-bharata  where sudas ruled and expanded his empire , due to fear of sudas  neighboring kings turned into enemies but no one had dare to attack sudas’s kingdom because he was more powerful than other kings 

• In ancient days every empire has guru who used to   advice for the welfare of empire ,   like wise vishvamitra was the guru of  tritsu-bharata kingdom  who used to guide  king sudas in many situations 

• But due to some differences , sudas removed  guru vishvamitra from advisory  and named guru  vasishtha as new royal  advisor   

• But   guru vishwamitra felt  so insulted   that  he decides to destroy the tritsu-bharata kingdom with support of sudas enemies 

• To start a war between kingdoms , guru vishvamitra met all the neigbouring kings and misguided them by telling that sudas wanted to expand his empire by capturing all their kingdoms and advised  all 10  kings to unite  their army to fight against sudas

• By believing words of guru vishvamitra , 5 aryans kings  and 5 local kings  joined hands making most powerful army  then  king sudas 

• By knowing this king sudas gets angry  and  sudas knows that he will be defeated easily if he faces war in battle ground , so with his intelligence he  decides to use rivers as part of war strategies 

• With infantry,  archers and elephants on  both side  , battle was started near the river bank of parusni which is now called ravi river 

•  Battle was fought so hard that thousands were killed and as per sudas war strategy using rivers  was completely working which  killed opposite kings by winning their kingdom 

• Fighting for years it is said that one of the longest and first  recorded war in history ,After winning war , many generations ruled by establishing many  small kingdoms inside Bharata and one such kingdom was kuru kingdom where pandavas and kauravas fought kurukshetra as  mentioned in mahabharata 

• So if we take  mahabharata as reference then we can clearly say that battle of  10 kings or dasharajnya   fought more than 1000 years before mahabharata

• History says that how our ancestors protected dharma when someone tries to destroy culture , these are the few facts of  dasharajnya which is also called as battle of ten kings
